Apple extends iMac harddrive replacements to '09-10 models

Apple extends iMac harddrive replacements to '09-10 models Apple has quietly extended a horrible drive replacement program for itsiMac all-in-one computers by yet an additional twelve month and seven months to machines made way back to 2009.

The change, Nexus 4 Silicone Case noticed by CNET readers, ensures that users with Seagate's 1TB storage will usually get it substituted by Apple or one of one's company's authorized Wholesale nexus 4 case builder at absolutely no cost whether or not this fails.

The issue in question affected a jug of 1TB Seagate hard disks that shipped in Apple's iMac systems, originally between May and July of 2011. That drive is discovered inside the 21.5-inch and 27-inch model. Apple now says both of those models using the drive, sold between 2009 and July 2011, are covered if something goes completely wrong.

Normally, a horrible drive replacement could well be no problem in today's world of desktop computers, but grandpa Apple has shifted toward designs which could be less serviceable. As my CNET colleague David Carnoy found after experiencing reactions to his 2010 iMac hard disk in August, actually dealing with the hard drive required special tools, including cute Nexus 4 case suction cups to remove the glass panel display.

To check your machine is eligible, you will type in your iMac's serial number here.
